In a bold move to cement its position as a leading customer-owned alternative to Australia’s major banks, People First Bank has opened a new flagship branch at 330 Collins Street in the heart of Melbourne’s banking district.

“The opening of this branch is not just about providing convenience for our customers; it is a clear statement of our commitment to growth in Victoria,” said Maria-Ann Camilleri, Chief Customer Officer.

“We are here to show Australians that there is a genuine alternative to the listed banks, one that is completely customer-focused and driven to create positive change through banking.”

People First Bank’s new branch places it squarely among its competitors, with every major bank nearby, making the location both strategic and symbolic.

The Collins Street branch is part of a larger strategy to expand People First Bank’s market share in Victoria, including significant technology investment and a supportive marketing campaign.

Within a short walk of the Flinders Street railway station, the new branch offers self-service cash transactions, digital banking services, savings and term deposits, home loans and personal loans, with the choice of face-to-face or virtual appointments.

“This is an exciting time for us as we roll out our new brand across Australia,” said Ms Camilleri. “We are confident that more people will come to appreciate the benefits of banking with us.”

The new Collins Street branch replaces the former People’s Choice branch at 460 Bourke Street. It is on the site of the former HCF branch, leased by Colliers.

People First Bank was created by the merger of People’s Choice and Heritage Bank in March 2023. While it continues to operate under the Heritage Bank and People’s Choice brands for an interim period, it has begun rolling out its new People First Bank brand.
