Around 90 golfers hit the greens in Toowoomba on 24 October, raising an impressive $53,000 at the annual People First Bank Golf Day.

Now in its 27th year, the event continues to turn friendly competition into real community impact, with more than $1.22 million raised to support grassroots charities and community groups.

People First Bank Chief Customer Officer Maria-Ann Camilleri said the event’s enduring success comes down to teamwork and community spirit.

“What makes this event so special is that it started with a simple idea – our employees wanting to make a difference,” Ms Camilleri said.

“Nearly three decades later, it’s still driven by volunteers from across the bank and supported by our business partners and networks who share our passion for doing good.”

For the first time, funds from this year’s event will be distributed through the People First Bank Foundation, supporting initiatives that improve wellbeing and opportunity across Australia.

Every dollar raised will help organisations such as DV Safe Phone, Protea Place, and Youth Insearch continue their incredible work supporting vulnerable members of the community.

Ms Camilleri thanked everyone who made the event possible.

“The continued success of the golf day comes down to the generosity and enthusiasm of sponsors, players and volunteers,” she said. “They’re the reason this event continues to make a difference.”
