Cricketers from local clubs in South Australia will have a unique chance to be in the match-day spotlight this year as People First Bank renews its major partnership with the Adelaide Strikers for the WBBL and BBL seasons ahead
As part of the renewed deal, the bank is introducing a new innings-break activation, First Past the Post.
This is a fast-paced, cricket-inspired relay race that will see two local cricket clubs compete head-to-head on game day.
With $5,000 in prize money available in both the WBBL and BBL competitions, the initiative aims to shine a light on grassroots cricket and celebrate the clubs at the heart of the sport.
“Supporting our customers and their communities is really at the heart of what we do,” said People First Bank Chief Customer Officer Maria-Ann Camilleri.
“First Past the Post is a fun way to bring that to life - it gives fans a moment to enjoy, and it shines a spotlight on the local South Australian clubs.”
The activation will run at Adelaide Strikers home games throughout the season, with participating clubs chosen through a nomination process.
The race will test cricket skills, teamwork and speed, all under the lights of Adelaide Oval and Karen Rolton Oval, ending in a final showdown on 5 December 2025 for the WBBL and 17 January 2026 for the BBL.
First Past the Post adds to People First Bank’s growing list of community initiatives, including the Junior Striker Clinic and the People First Community Lottery, providing support and opportunities to community groups and local organisations.
Ms Camilleri said, “We’d love to see fans getting behind their local clubs and enjoying the energy this brings to match day - it’s a great way to bring community and cricket together.”
